We study the transmission of conventional monetarypolicy in China,focusingon the interaction between monetary and fiscalpolicy given the unique institutional set-up for macroeconomic policy making. Our results suggestsome progress butalso continued difficulties in the transmissionof monetarypolicy Similar to recentstudies, we find evidence of monetarypolicypass-through to interestrates.However,the im pactof monetary policy measures thatare notcoordinated with fiscal policyis significantly weaker than thatof coordinated measures.This suggests the need for further improvements to the interest-rate based framework.
