Diagnostics pivotal in ASEAN’s future healthcare system. While healthcare delivery  has improved over the years, ASEAN is still underspending on its needs, allocating only  3.5% of its GDP on healthcare vs global average of 9.8%. With governments striving to  keep future healthcare expenditure sustainable while working towards better care, we see  diagnostics playing a key role in ASEAN’s healthcare system, considering its cost-efficient  benefits (it accounts for ~2% of the medical dollar, yet informs 70% of medical decisions). Future demand growth could more than double. ASEAN’s medical diagnostics  industry is in a relatively nascent stage, making up 1.4% of health spend vs 2.5% for the  global average, with Singapore leading the diagnostics play in ASEAN (supported by  complementary government policies and highly specialised technology).
