Given the increase in life expectancy and high prevalence of chronic diseases such as cancer and rare diseases, the need for preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic Precision Medicine (PM) is necessary in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. However, the maturity of this ecosystem varies among the GCC countries with most still in the process of developing or strengthening their local infrastructure. The success of this ecosystem would transcribe into PM as part of routine diagnostics and preventive testing. Therefore, to build this ecosystem, streamline and operationalize it, collaborative efforts of multiple relevant stakeholders such as investors, payers, regulators, ministries, providers, physicians, pathologists, patients as well as biopharma companies would be required. Awareness, accessibility, and affordability of the PM ecosystem for GCC should be the prime focus.
