Since February 2020, the Institute of International Education (IIE) has mapped the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on international educational exchange to and from the United States. We began this series with a report on student mobility to and from China in February 2020. However, as COVID-19 became a global pandemic, we expanded the series with two additional reports in June and August 2020 to map the effects of COVID-19 on international students studying at U.S. higher education institutions and U.S. students studying abroad. In addition, the Open Doors® 2020 Report on International Education Exchange and Fall 2020 International Student Enrollment Snapshot shed further light on the impact of the pandemic on academic mobility and exchange.i
