摘要：

This paper analyzes how firms with different financial strength levels respond to demand shocks in their exportmarkets. We utilize unique administrative datasetsof Swedish and Finnish firms matched with national customsdata from 1999 to 2014, which allows us to analyzethe effects of several macroeconomic shocks affectingthe export product demand and performanceof exporting firms. We find that financially stronger exportfirms are better positioned during both positive and negative demand shocks—suffering less from the negativeshocks, benefiting more from the positive shocks.
